Marquette County approves multiple FY2026 roll-forwards and budget amendments

The second and third amendments roll forward $30,000 of 2025 opioid settlement funds to the Health Department to support minigrants; those applications were not awarded in FY2025 and were reviewed in April 2026. Parks fund roll-forwards total $79,886.62 for items including bath house improvements, road and parking improvements and the Perkins Park fence. The Airport fund includes a $48,221 carryforward for the passenger boarding bridge; the Sewer Fund carryforward for the KI Sawyer wastewater aeration building repair is $776,500 (total project previously approved at $856,300).
Other listed amendments add $30,000 for contracted legal services under an agreement with Peter H. McCallion; transfer $75,266 of 2025 public-safety line item funds to rescue-safety reserves for future air-pack purchases; increase elected-officials compensation per a prior board action; add $305,500 to Self Insured Retention per MMRMA member responsibilities; adjust employee-benefits and administration fees; and add various transfers related to the Land Bank Authority and CUPPAD membership. The Parks fund also added $20,000 for a Michigan Arts and Culture Council grant for percussive sculptures and pavement markings at Little Trout Lake Park. The Technology Fund added $376,200 for an IT services contract with Karhu Cyber and conversion to Microsoft 365+, funded by Tech Fund reserves.
Commissioner Nordeen moved to approve the budget amendments as presented; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Alholm and recorded as adopted in the minutes (motion adopted (5-0) in the meeting record). The minutes do not list a detailed roll call for each line item beyond the motion language in the meeting materials.
The amendments carry forward and reauthorize previously approved projects and funds; the minutes do not record additional conditions, specific grant-awardees for the minigrants, or projected timelines for the listed projects.
