The Englewood City Council on June 9 introduced Ordinance 26‑16, an amendment to Chapter 25 (traffic and parking) to add regular street sweeping on West Palisade Avenue from the World War I monument to the township border.
City Manager Robert S. Hoffman told the council the ordinance rescues a previously tabled 2023 proposal and narrows the sweeping window to three hours between noon and 3 p.m., with the north side swept Thursdays and the south side swept Fridays, providing DPW and police an opportunity to clear cars during a set period.
Council members asked whether the proposed sweep segment covers up to the township border and expressed interest in signage and resident education before enforcement; Hoffman said the city plans an educational period before tickets are issued and the public hearing and adoption will be held June 23.
The ordinance (No. 26‑16) was introduced by motion, seconded and approved by roll call. Council members expressed support for the measure as a way to improve cleanliness and allow DPW to maintain the corridor on a regular schedule.
