The Corsicana ISD athletic director told trustees on June 8 that the district fielded athletes in 19 activities in 2025–26, qualified for postseason in nine of those activities, and saw a marked increase in scholarship recipients — from five in 2024–25 to 25 in 2025–26.
Highlights included state and regional qualifiers in powerlifting (including a state champion), regional semifinalists in baseball, consistent tennis playoff appearances (42nd consecutive year), district and state qualifiers in track and field, and multiple individual all-district selections across sports. The athletic director noted a 98.5% academic passing rate among student-athletes reported by coaches.
The director also flagged facility maintenance needs: middle-school practice fields and tennis courts require work (surfacing, painting), the track needs repair in spots, and continued attention to high-school grass fields and weight-room upgrades was requested. Trustees heard a proposal to seek possible funding or scheduling to address those maintenance items.
Coaches and district staff plan to meet at year-end to compile requests and prioritize projects for summer and next fiscal planning.
Quotations in the meeting emphasized pride in student-athletes' academic performance and postseason success and the district's aim to expand participation and retention.
