Felipe Lopez formally introduced himself to the MAP Board as the new director for mobility and parking and summarized several early priorities.
"My name is Felipe Lopez and I'm the new director for mobility and parking for the city of Manitu," he said, noting he took the formal role in mid-December after serving briefly as interim. Lopez said he was still reviewing recent council work but expressed enthusiasm for working with the board and staff.
At the meeting’s close, Lopez described his immediate focus areas: improving public-facing communications and website information, streamlining internal processes, and increasing understanding of mobility programs across the community. "Some of the things that keep me up at night are... facilitating information to everybody through our website, through our communication, improving communication, improving processes and things like that," he said.
Board members praised Lopez’s engagement and encouraged him to prioritize pedestrian and cycling safety, especially around schools. Chair Carl and council liaison Nate said they view the MAP Board as an advisory resource to staff and welcomed closer coordination.
Lopez also described operational items staff are tracking—call-log tracking at the Diller Mobility Hub to categorize community inquiries, updates to the Residential Parking Permit (RPP) zones, and future infrastructure plans including potential charging infrastructure at the Dylan hub—and asked the board for feedback as staff develops proposals.
