The Ocean View School District meeting June 9 included multiple celebratory items showcasing student achievement and staff service.
Trustees and attendees welcomed a 30‑member Vista View Mariachi ensemble directed by Mr. Zimbrano; board members praised the students’ composure and the new music offering. The Huntington Beach Sailing Foundation and district staff presented four summer scholarship recipients by name.
Curriculum specialist Lori Mans recognized winners of the district 2026 Middle School Science Expo. Projects highlighted included a sixth‑grade team’s "Bookie" portable book holder and other award‑winning designs from Marine View and Vista View teams. Students were invited forward to receive awards and photos.
Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources Reagan Hedrickk presented retirement recognitions for seven employees, citing years of service and contributions: Terry Bonds, Rick Larson, Cindy Pulfer, Joan Ashley, Diana Biano, Caroline Ashino and Shelene Spalding. Trustees thanked retirees for long service and invited them to a reception and photographs.
These items were presented as recognitions without formal action; trustees used the opportunity to congratulate staff and students and to note the district’s program expansions and partnerships.
Next step: continue community recognitions during the summer reception and post photographs and award listings on district channels.
