The Shenandoah City Council voted June 10 to establish an assistant city administrator position to support the city administrator and improve operational coordination.
"This position would work under the direction of the city administrator. This will help the city staff with support, efficient operations and strengthening executive leadership capacity," City Administrator Sam said while presenting the resolution, saying the role will help with policy initiatives, planning and oversight.
Council members briefly discussed the proposal and expressed support. A motion to approve the resolution was made and seconded; the council voted in favor and the motion carried.
The resolution authorizes the city administrator to take necessary steps to implement the position. Council members indicated the appointment process and duties will be subject to future administrative steps and that the council retains final approval authority over senior appointments.
