Healthy New Albany partners and designers presented a preliminary plan for a new food pantry and office building to be sited on leased land at Rose Run Presbyterian Church on Harlem Road.
Todd Parker (speaker 2) said the proposed building would be roughly 8,460 square feet, house Healthy New Albany’s offices (about 14 staff today), provide a warehouse area with walk‑in coolers and freezers, room for volunteer operations, and about 30 parking spaces located near an easement under high‑tension power lines. The design team said the building’s siding and roof would be chosen to complement the church and that donation and loading operations were included in the layout.
A neighbor (speaker 9) asked the applicant to ensure adequate screening between the church parking lot and adjacent houses, noting that deciduous trees lose leaves in winter and light from cars can shine into back windows. The applicant said they would add screening and that hours of client service are limited. The team said the concept is preliminary; civil engineering work and final siting remain to be developed and the applicants plan to return with refined plans.
No formal action was taken; the presentation was informational and the board thanked the team.
