Fountain Inn Police receive reaccreditation; city introduces new staff and officers

The Fountain Inn Police Department was presented with the Scalia Reaccreditation Award during the June 11 council meeting.
Trevor Hall, representing the South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation Council (and a Municipal Association consultant), told the council the reaccreditation reflects sustained professionalism, accountability and compliance with standards after a thorough policy and on-site review. Chief Ortenberry thanked accreditation manager Sergeant Robertson and the department's command staff and officers for their work.
Council also introduced new municipal staff: Claire Jones, the city's new Main Street coordinator (introduced by Amanda Benfield); Kristen Numm, a recently sworn police officer who has completed prior law enforcement service in the area; and Ariel Smith, a new customer service representative at City Hall with HR and customer-service experience.
Council members offered congratulations to the department and welcomed the new staff.
