Fountain Valley board honors teacher of the year, long‑serving classified employee and community partners

The Fountain Valley School District board opened its June 11 meeting by honoring staff and community partners who support students and schools.
Amanda Kahara was named the district’s certificated (teacher) employee of the year; presenters praised her classroom practice, coaching and leadership. The board said Kahara “exemplifies the very best of the Fountain Valley School District,” noting her “unwavering belief in students, passion for teaching, and commitment to academic excellence.”
Cheryl Hall was recognized as the district’s classified employee of the year for decades of service. Board remarks described Hall’s steady, behind‑the‑scenes contributions as an office manager, trainer and mentor across site teams and credited her with “consistently going above and beyond” in support of students, parents and colleagues.
The board also recognized the Fountain Valley Schools Foundation for more than 40 years of service, listing board members present and thanking the organization for grants and community programs (classroom grants, robotics, music, Give 10 for Kids and the Mark Eker Golf Tournament). PTA/PTO leaders and site parent council members were thanked as “connectors” between families and schools for their volunteer work and event support.
The recognitions were followed by photos and brief remarks from trustees and guests. The board moved on to staff reports and the evening’s budget presentation after the ceremony.
