Wasco County commissioners on May 6 voted to accept a $42,500 grant from Visit Central Oregon to purchase a mobile stage and related sound and lighting equipment for the Wasco County Fairgrounds.
Administrative Services Director Ali Postlewait told the board the total project budget is $53,125, with the required 25% local match ($10,625) to come from the county’s Capital Improvement Fund. The county intends to use the mobile stage year‑round, reduce rental costs, and improve ADA accessibility by adding a paved path and necessary site improvements. Staff noted the preferred stage model may require supplemental funding and that any additional cost would be covered by existing capital budgets.
Vice Chair Philip L. Brady moved to accept the Visit Central Oregon agreement and authorize purchase; Commissioner Jeffrey L. Justesen seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Project procurement and grant reporting will follow Visit Central Oregon’s terms and grant‑reporting schedule.
