Brown County Commission hears Richmond Lake pump update, approves routine consent items and holds executive session

At its June 9, 2026 meeting, the Brown County Commission received an operational update on Richmond Lake runoff, approved multiple consent-calendar items by voice vote, entered an executive session to discuss personnel and contracts and adjourned after returning with no action reported.

During the Richmond Dam/Richmond Lake update staff reported two of three pumps are running while one pump remains inoperative. A staff member identified in the transcript only as Mike described local water-level changes: "Foot Creek is lower than it was once they quit pumping even with all the rain, at least by Richmond." He added the lake had risen substantially compared with recent low shoreline and estimated a change from about 60 feet of exposed shoreline down to roughly 20 feet prior to recent pumping efforts.

The commission proceeded through a typical consent calendar, approving the general meeting minutes of June 2, 2026; the primary election canvas of June 5, 2026; claims and payroll; the human resources report; the Land Bill 202 report for May; a travel request; and a lease agreement. The commission also approved surplusing printers from the fair office. Later in the meeting commissioners voted to go into executive session to discuss human resources personnel matters and contracts. The commission announced it returned to open session and stated there was "no action as a result" from the executive session.
