Greeley County commissioners approve minutes, payroll, DOJ grant signatures and tax-sale resolution

Commissioner Joe Leslie moved to waive the reading and approve the May 12, 2026 minutes; Chairman Jordan Foltz seconded and the motion carried by roll call vote (Yes: Leslie, Foltz; Absent: Dennis Wadsworth). Leslie then moved to approve payroll and claims, and that motion carried by the same roll call. The claims listing in the minutes included multiple election-service payments and established payroll totals for the general and road funds.
Chrystal Curtis, CNEDD community development specialist, presented required Department of Justice grant documents. The Board authorized Chairman Jordan Foltz to sign DOJ Certified Standard Assurances and a set of DOJ certifications covering lobbying, debarment and suspension, drug-free workplace requirements, and law-enforcement/community-policing assurances; those motions carried on roll call votes (Yes: Leslie, Foltz; Absent: Wadsworth).
Treasurer Mary McGuire presented pledged collateral held with First National Bank of Ord (Greeley Branch); the Board approved the collateral. McGuire also presented Resolution 2026-4 listing real-estate parcels that were delinquent and not sold at the last tax sale, and the Board authorized issuance of tax-sale certificates to the County for the specified tracts; the resolution passed by roll call (Yes: Leslie, Foltz; Absent: Wadsworth).
The Board also approved designating the Nebraska Association of County Officials to coordinate printing and mailing of Joint Public Hearing postcards in partnership with the State Print Shop and Pitney Bowes.
There were no public comments recorded. Sheriff Paul Deaver reported that equipment installation for a new patrol vehicle was nearly complete. The Board held multiple executive sessions (noted in the minutes) to discuss possible litigation and personnel matters and returned to open session each time. The Board adjourned at 11:51 a.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for June 9, 2026.
