Upper Chichester commissioners review tax-refund requests, truck purchase and park updates

The Upper Chichester Township Board of Commissioners reviewed financial and operations reports Tuesday, including notification that 23 parcels have been submitted for tax-refund requests and will be considered at the board's next meeting.
The treasurer said the refund requests were submitted by the tax collector and that the township will follow the usual vetting steps, including coordination with the school district. On a separate finance item, the treasurer clarified that residents listed for "trash exonerations" are those who qualify for the state PA 1000 rebate; residents must pay their trash fee and are then reimbursed, and eligibility is limited by age and income requirements.
Vice President Joe reported on public works, describing a newly procured multi-purpose truck that he said can function as a dump truck or flatbed and "it's like a universal truck" and "three trucks in one." The board plans to sell an older dump truck after the new vehicle arrives. Joe also said work on the new sewer force main is complete except for the tap and that roads affected by the work have been repaved.
Commissioner Henkins said Kingsman Park is finished and seeing heavy use, and announced that Cindy submitted her resignation from the zoning board with June likely to be her last meeting; the board expects to nominate a replacement for a vote at the next meeting. Commissioner Olston thanked the township engineer for progress on a project now moving ahead of schedule and commended local police for apprehending a suspect involved in a nearby crime.
Commissioner Olson noted that emergency-management and fire-marshall reports are on file and reminded commissioners of a Juneteenth celebration set for June 19 at Twin Oaks Village playground at 6 p.m. A commissioner asked that discussion about compensating members of two unpaid committees, including the stormwater authority, be added to an upcoming agenda; the board confirmed that item is already listed for the next meeting.
Before adjourning, the board voted to move into an executive session to discuss personal matters. A motion to adjourn was then moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
The board did not take any formal policy votes during the public portion of the meeting; items requiring further action—the 23 refund requests and the committee-compensation discussion—were scheduled for future sessions.
