Elizabeth Guyer read an essay titled "What I like about my hometown," noting that "My town is named Wyckoff," describing the borough as "the garden town in the garden state" and praising local volunteers, public safety services and historic preservation efforts. Julia Capo described her year as a junior environmental commissioner, including organizing a 150-attendee sustainability event with student-run workshops and an upcycled art-fair capstone that featured local high-school artists.
Committee members congratulated the students and invited them to have photos taken with officials after the presentations. The mayor and members encouraged the students to remain for the remainder of the meeting and thanked them for their civic engagement.
