Belleville honors students across sports, academics and academies ahead of graduation

The Belleville Board of Education used part of its June 10 session to recognize student accomplishments across athletics, academics and career academies ahead of the class of 2026 graduations.
Outgoing student representative Jasine Sepoa reflected on her year of service and passed the student-board role to Maxwell Villerin. Administrators, coaches and program advisers then presented awards and honors including Belleville Chess Tournament winners, county ‘‘Academically Speaking’’ participants, Challenge 24 contestants, Union College bridge-building competition participants, and county poster contest winners. Athletic recognitions included all-conference and all-county mentions for players in baseball, volleyball, softball, tennis, and flag football. The board also recognized students who earned seals of biliteracy and members of the medical and engineering academies who will wear cords at graduation.
Administrators repeatedly asked awardees to come forward for certificates and group photos. Dr. Eric Alphonso announced the graduation schedule: Belleville Middle School eighth-grade graduation will be June 24 at 9:00 a.m., and Belleville High School graduation will be June 25 at 9:00 a.m., both at the Belleville High School Municipal Stadium.
The board’s recognitions were ceremonial and did not require formal votes. The evening included reminders for families about graduation logistics and the release of the 2026–27 free and reduced meal application in late August.
