Michelle Jones of Congridge Court asked why the city’s educational summer camp accepts children beginning at age 8 and requested consideration of allowing younger children to attend. The council noted the community-life director was not present and said officials would escalate the question to the director’s supervisor for follow-up.
Doris Kennedy said many residents remain unsure of the post-storm cleanup process and suggested council members drive their wards to inspect damage so neighbors would not have to repeatedly call the mayor’s office. Kennedy also thanked council leadership for arranging cleanup for an overgrown property on her street.
Terresa Tyrie (transcript: "Terresa Tyrie Vicky L.") criticized council members for not policing ordinance violations in their assigned wards and urged more proactive enforcement. Council members responded that enforcement activity has increased and that violations are being taken to court when necessary.
Council officials acknowledged the concerns and said staff would follow up with the community life department on program eligibility and continue enforcement and outreach related to storm damage and property maintenance.
The public-comment period concluded with no immediate policy changes; council said it would pursue staff responses and provide updates at future meetings.
