Township weighs phone/IT backup options as 1963 East High Street renovation advances

Commissioner Raymond W. Lopez and Township Manager Edward C. Wagner met with a Phone America representative, Chief Richard Bell and the township's IT consultant to review needs for the township building and police department. The group discussed whether to rent phones (which can keep equipment current) or buy them outright. Lopez said the township is seeking both Verizon and Comcast coverage so that if one provider fails the other can maintain service for police and township functions.
Commissioner Michael McGroarty, who toured the site, said he was impressed with progress and encouraged other commissioners to visit. Manager Wagner also noted the township is monitoring related site work, including fencing and lighting at Coventry Christian; the fire company has not yet adjusted a light because weather and emergency calls have delayed the work.
The township also reported rebidding a generator after a prior buyer did not complete the purchase; no award has yet been made. No formal procurement decisions were taken at the May 15 meeting.
