The planning and zoning commission unanimously approved a preliminary plat for a new subdivision dubbed Strathmore Park at its June 11 meeting.
City staff presented the proposal for a 9.461-acre tract at 111020 West Forest Grove Road that was recently rezoned to R-1. The proposal calls for eight residential lots in the John W. Kirby survey, abstract No. 506. "The proposed preliminary plat for Strathmore Park meets the city's requirements for approval," staff said, and city engineering reviewed the civil construction plans and raised no objections.
A commissioner asked whether the south end of the proposed street connects to Forest Grove Road and whether a split entrance was shown; staff replied the split entrance is within the 50-foot right of way and that the full civil plans (too large for the packet) show the detailed connection. One commissioner said, "we do have complete conformance with item 5 of code section 10.03.123."
The Chair read the applicant representation into the record during the motion: Hayden Moss with Liberty Bankers Life Insurance on behalf of Jeff Bednar. The Chair moved to approve the preliminary plat; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Staff noted one checklist item was incomplete when the packet was printed but that the applicant had submitted the required materials before the meeting. The commission provided no additional conditions on the record.
