Resident urges streetlights and lower speed limit on Rupert Road

At the May 15 Lower Pottsgrove Township meeting, resident Tom Wojton urged the board to install streetlights and reduce the posted speed on Rupert Road to improve safety for pedestrians.
Wojton described cars traveling "very fast" on Rupert Road where walkers use the shoulder and asked the township to install three streetlights, noting that two would suffice if three are not feasible. He told the board he has sought financial help from state officials, including Representative Joe Ciresi, and has contacted Senator Tracy Pennycuick's office for possible assistance. He also suggested installing a speed-reader sign like the one he cited on Moser Road.
Commissioner Raymond W. Lopez said he would ask Police Chief Richard Bell about the possibility of hanging a speed reader but noted lowering a posted speed requires a traffic study. Manager Edward C. Wagner also flagged that utility ownership (PECO and MetEd) splits some poles in the area, which could complicate adding multiple light poles.
The board thanked Wojton for the input and said the request would be taken under advisement; no formal action or funding commitment was made at the meeting.
