Wylie council pauses Stonehaven House negotiations, says no demolition planned

Mayor Matthew Porter read the council’s statement after the private discussion: "After discussion in executive session, the council has made a determination with a consensus of that council that we are going to stop contractual negotiations with the Wylie Historical Society with regards to the Stonehaven House," he said. Porter added, "At no time has there been a desire or plan by the Council to cause damage to or demolish the Stonehaven House and there is no plan to do so in the future."
The council provided no additional public details about the negotiations; staff said the council will review options and next steps focused on preservation. No formal action beyond the public statement was recorded in open session.
