Lubbock ISD trustees unanimously hire Lauren Henderson as Williams Elementary principal; introduce Jimmy Moore

The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved hiring Lauren Henderson as principal of Williams Elementary and formally introduced Jimmy Moore as a returning district administrator during a called meeting that reconvened from closed session. The board voted 6-0 to approve Henderson’s appointment.

Lauren Henderson, a Coronado High School graduate identified by trustees as the district’s next Williams Elementary principal, told trustees she was honored to return to the district that shaped her. "It is truly an honor to stand before you today as the next principal of Nat Williams Elementary," Henderson said, thanking mentors and describing participation in the Holdsworth partnership and a principalship cohort as formative to her leadership.

Henderson said she plans to prioritize academic challenge and the "whole child" as Williams undergoes campus consolidation, and she introduced her children as part of her remarks. Dr. Roe, speaking from the dais, welcomed Henderson and praised her growth within Lubbock ISD.

Trustees also recognized Jimmy Moore, whom the board said it appointed previously and who addressed the board at the meeting. Moore described a long history working in the district and expressed gratitude for the hiring process and support from human resources. He was introduced by trustees as the new "director of student and parent resolution" (title stated at the meeting).

Both personnel actions were presented and approved without recorded opposition. The board recessed briefly so attendees could take photographs with the new appointees and then reconvened to complete other business before adjourning.

The board did not provide additional detail at the meeting about the effective start dates for either appointment beyond the announcements made from the dais.
