"AB1756 passed the assembly. So, it's going to the Senate. We're trying to extend our pilot program until 2033," the city manager said.
The presentation included promotion of local events (a fall festival planned for Nov. 7, recreation programs and upcoming Needles Unified graduation ceremonies) and business recruitment notes. The manager encouraged residents to use the Needles Connect app to report problems to staff and described an upcoming move away from accepting pennies for cash payments (implementation noted for June 11), saying rounding procedures will apply only to cash transactions.
The City Manager's remarks were informational; the Planning Commission did not take formal action on these updates. The chair also announced that Lisa Fernandez had been sworn in as a new board member prior to the meeting.
The city manager said staff would continue outreach and planned events; council and public notices will provide further scheduling and implementation details where needed.
