The Needles City Board of Public Utilities on June 2 accepted and filed a March 30, 2026 inspection of the city wastewater treatment plant by the Colorado River Basin Regional Water Quality Control Board.
Chief plant operator Chris Hendricks told the board the inspector spent roughly 30–60 minutes touring the facility, took photos and reviewed documentation. "The report was very favorable for us," Hendricks said, noting the visit turned up no outstanding action items. He said staff handled a minor nitrate issue quickly and emphasized that proactive communication with regulators helped avoid escalated enforcement: "When you have an issue, talk about it, let them know, tell them what your plan is." The board unanimously voted to accept and file the inspection report.
Board members praised operations staff and cited the board's budget support and staffing as key to maintaining compliance. The item was approved by roll call with all five members present voting in favor. No further enforcement or remedial steps were reported; staff said they will share photos and any follow‑up details at future meetings.
