Parents, union members urge board not to renew COO and superintendent contracts amid audit questions

Camille Lman recounted prior grievances and court findings she attributes to COO Jana Gomes’ actions, cited a March 6, 2026 WASA review, and said the May SAO letter concluded a supplemental contract was issued “without authority” and in violation of the state constitution; she asked the board to decline renewal of Gomes’s contract. Board members did not take immediate public action on employment contracts during the meeting. President Perkins announced the board would go into an executive session to review the performance of a public employee under the cited state RCW and recessed the meeting; the executive session timing was stated in open session. The meeting later adjourned.
