Pembroke updates sewer, water and highway operations; Camden Group to restore Corfu 1 facility

Town officials reported progress on multiple infrastructure fronts at the Pembroke Town Board meeting on Feb. 13.

Supervisor Thomas Schneider and Zoning Officer Jim Wolbert said Camden Group will put the Corfu 1 sewer facility back online so the neighboring Town of Darien can connect. No vote was required; the report was provided as part of ongoing sewer operations updates.

On water infrastructure, Schneider reported that bond paperwork is being prepared by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Municipal Solutions. The board was told it will need to set up appropriate accounts for water-district payments in advance of a planned public bid process.

Highway Superintendent Scott Turner said the department ordered 500 tons of salt amid a regional shortage; 300 tons were received and 200 tons remained outstanding. Turner said crews have worked extended hours responding to recent wind, snow, rain and sleet, and that staff are moving materials into a new storage container arriving soon.

Separately, the Highway Garage generators have been inspected and placed on an annual inspection schedule, Schneider said, as part of ongoing planning for the facility. The minutes list these items under old business and indicate staff and contractors will continue follow-up work ahead of bidding and connection activity.
