The board approved naming requests and annual award nominees presented by Vice President Chris Phillips.
Namings: Trustees approved naming the high‑bay laboratory in the Technology Building the Engineering Technology and Innovation Laboratory in memory of Richard E. and Bristol S. Ganaway, and naming Classroom 212 in the Health Professions Building in memory of Judy Lynn Otter in recognition of an endowed nursing scholarship.
Awards: Trustees approved the slate of annual awards: Philanthropist of the Year — Billy Atkins; Military Service Award — Dr. Michelle D. Smith; and Service Award — Dr. Jeannie Bochamp. Trustees praised nominees’ long records of philanthropy, service and professional leadership.
Why it matters: The namings recognize philanthropic investments and scholarship endowments; the awards highlight longstanding community and alumni support and reinforce donor and alumni engagement.
Next steps: University staff will coordinate award ceremonies and donor stewardship activities and schedule public presentations for honorees when feasible.
