Washington County School Board honors long-serving member Billy Wilson Brooks, recognizes student and staff achievements

The Washington County School Board on June 25 adopted a resolution honoring Billy Wilson Brooks for 38 years of service to public education in Washington County and entered the resolution into the board’s permanent record. The board then observed a moment of silence in his memory.
The board also recognized Kaden Clisso, a fourth-grade student at Agon Elementary School, for earning a perfect score (600) on all three state spring tests. Superintendent Dr. Parish and the school board chair presented a certificate signed by both officials and invited Kaden and his family for photographs.
The superintendent additionally announced that Ashley Hoke received a national award of merit from the National School Public Relations Association for a cafeteria outreach campaign. Board members applauded Hoke’s work and thanked school staff for their role in the division’s outreach and student support efforts.
"So at this time, I just ask everyone to join us in a moment of silence as we remember Mr. Brooks," Miss Nichols said when the board paused to honor Brooks. Dr. Parish described Brooks’s decades of service and the board approved the resolution by unanimous voice vote.
The board’s recognitions were ceremonial and did not require additional action. The items were recorded in the meeting minutes and the resolutions will remain in the division’s permanent record.
