The Eureka Schools Foundation presented a $400,000 pledge to the Eureka Union School District to support enrichment programs including STEAM, music, junior high athletics, libraries and classroom innovation.
"I present a check this year in the amount of $400,000 to the school district for enrichment programs," Jessica, ESF president, told trustees as she described fundraising events and thanked parent volunteers and sponsors. She highlighted a slate of upcoming ESF events — a Granite Bay 5K in September, a gala in November, a World Arts Fair in April and spring fundraisers — as the primary sources of the foundation’s contributions.
Trustees and the superintendent joined staff in recognizing a series of student accomplishments across district sites. Amber Sutton introduced the seventh‑grade boys track and field team that won the Fisel League division and later the league championship. Cavitt Junior High’s quiz bowl team was celebrated after placing 88th out of 192 teams at the national championship tournament in Chicago and qualifying by finishing in the top 15 percent during the regular season. Cavitt’s VEX robotics team 9537S earned multiple regional awards — including an excellence award — and qualified for the VEX Robotics World Championship.
The board took photographs with the groups and expressed thanks to coaches and volunteers. The recognitions were presented at the start of the public meeting before the district’s budget and LCAP presentations.
