Winnebago County board approves $200,000 emergency appropriation to repair airport culvert and perimeter road

The Winnebago County Board approved an emergency appropriation of $200,000 to repair a culvert and the perimeter roadway at the county airport so the route is operational ahead of the AirVenture event.

Supervisor Binder moved Resolution 18-05-2026 to fund the repairs; a second was recorded and the board approved the measure by voice vote. "I may have slept through this meeting, but it says the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee voted on this meeting five to zero, and I didn't think it came before us," Hancock Cook said. A board member clarified the item had been before other committees (personnel and finance) and that it had not appeared before judiciary; no amendment or removal was made.
