The Iowa City Community School District board took several formal actions during its June 9 meeting.
Policy and consent votes: The board approved updates to the 900-series policies (title changes and minor edits) after a brief policy review and discussion of livestreaming and closed-captioning accessibility. The motion carried unanimously.
Consent agenda: The board approved the consent agenda with Item 10 (interagency agreements with before- and after-school programs) separated for a roll call. Director Lingo disclosed that he now serves on the Longfellow afterschool program board and abstained from the vote on Item 10; the item passed with Directors Abraham, Eastham, Finch, Horn-Frazier and Williams voting yea and Director Lingo abstaining.
Appointments and authorizations: The board moved to appoint Patricia (Pat) Moore as board treasurer; Moore took the oath of office. The board also authorized Moore, in her role as CFO and board treasurer, as an authorized signer on the district’s GreenState Credit Union accounts; both motions passed unanimously.
Real property conveyance: The board approved a resolution authorizing the conveyance of an interest in real property (legal description read at the public hearing). Board members asked staff about appraisal work and price; staff said the sale price was approximately $3.3 million and that external appraisal firms (Cook or Gronk referenced) performed valuations.
Voting method: Board Secretary Kim Colvin ran online voting for multiple items; the clerk noted one temporary voting transmission issue for a director whose vote was later recorded.
Why it matters: These votes implement routine governance items and formalize financial authority and bank signatories while the district continues substantive financial reviews and capital planning.
What’s next: The board scheduled policy and governance items for June 23 and will continue monthly SBRC reporting and other follow-ups.
