Marshall County agrees to help plant donated Liberty Tree following DAR request

Carolyn Holly, regent of the Clarks River chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, asked the Marshall County Fiscal Court on June 9 to help identify and prepare a county site for a donated tulip poplar tree as part of Kentucky's Liberty Tree State Project commemorating 250 years of American history.
Holly said the chapter will coordinate the dedication ceremony, hoped to be timed near July 4, and requested county assistance with preparing and planting the tree. Court members identified a likely planting spot near the sidewalk and discussed logistics; a motion to assist was moved, seconded and carried. County staff volunteered to dig and water the tree; donors Vern and Judy James were named as the donors of the tree.
The court recorded the motion and directed staff to coordinate timing and logistics with the DAR chapter.
