Woodbury County OKs public‑health services agreement with Ida County for FY27

Woodbury County supervisors voted unanimously to authorize the board chair to sign an intergovernmental agreement enabling Sun District Health Department to provide public‑health services to Ida County from July 1 through June 30, 2027. Kevin Green of Sun District Health presented the final agreement and said it has been reviewed and approved by the involved boards and health departments.
The agreement covers provision of services to Ida County residents; county staff clarified that reimbursement from Ida County will cover costs associated with serving those residents, meaning Woodbury County should see no additional fiscal burden. Green told the board the county’s public‑health budget currently shows about a $3,000 underrun that could absorb unanticipated costs.
Supervisors asked questions about billing and implementation; Green said the document in supervisors’ packets is the final agreement and that signatures from the four involved entities complete the local approval steps. Board members voted 5‑0 to authorize the chair to sign the agreement.
The action is procedural; the agreement will be executed after signatures are gathered and then implemented by the participating health departments. The board also noted Kevin Green’s forthcoming retirement and the department’s upcoming director search as context for transition planning.
