Newton County commissioners approved renewal of the county’s FY27 employee medical and dental coverage with Cigna after a unanimous recommendation from an employee vetting committee.
Gary Massey, who presented the item, described a multi-step vetting process beginning in January and said the committee’s unanimous recommendation reflected diligence and negotiations done on behalf of employees and the county. "This renewal was processed with due diligence, aggressive negotiations, and proper vetting," Massey said.
Commissioners moved and seconded the recommendation and approved the renewal by voice vote; the transcript records unanimous approval but does not include a numeric roll call.
