Police Chief David Pernice described the capabilities of the department’s license plate readers during a June 25 discussion about proposed changes to parking in Municipal Lot #2.
"License Plate Readers showed videos. They can search plates on the system and assist in an investigation anywhere in the country," Police Chief David Pernice said, explaining the system’s investigatory utility. He also told council that he had been updating department policies through Lexipol and was awaiting solicitor review of some policies.
Council asked Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips to review a potential angled parking layout for Municipal Lot #2 so members could assess the practical impacts of the proposed front-end parking changes. No ordinance amendment was adopted at the meeting.
Separately, council discussed proposed zoning changes related to small games of chance and allowing pools in vacant adjoining lots but decided to defer substantive consideration until the solicitor is present at a future meeting.
