Cheryl Hodges, Westwood’s Town Council Liaison, updated the Board of Health on April 8 about several outreach and operational items.
Hodges thanked Health Department Director Stacy Gravina for revising the Borough website to improve ADA accessibility and for representing the Health Department in efforts to revive the borough’s Stigma Free program. She reminded board members that financial disclosure forms are due by April 30.
Hodges reported technical and public-safety updates: the borough’s lightning detection device range has been expanded from five miles to ten miles. She also said that FDA recalls are sent to distributors, who are responsible for notifying their customers. Hodges noted that GLP-1 drugs have been observed to cause malnourishment and muscle loss as side effects; this observation was recorded in the liaison report but no scientific source or board discussion was provided in the minutes.
On community outreach, Hodges said invitations to the Art in the Park/Health Fair have been sent. Board members discussed participation and attendee engagement; the minutes list tasks including creating a coverage schedule, Stacy Gravina providing a tick kit, and Jordan Schwartz listed as a tentative lead on a handout.
The liaison’s updates covered operational fixes, outreach planning and reported health concerns; the board did not take immediate policy actions beyond scheduling and assignment of event tasks.
