Jackson County approves attorney engagement with Keller Rohrback L.L.P. for PFAS-related claims

Chair Rick Dyer read Order No. 118-26 at the May 14 Jackson County staff meeting. Senior Deputy County Administrator Joel Benton told the Board that Jackson County will retain Keller Rohrback L.L.P. to represent the County in pursuing claims for abatement, damages, and injunctive relief against companies that manufacture, market, or sell Aqueous Film-Forming Foam and products containing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Benton said Keller Rohrback has the specialty legal experience and expertise required for this matter and that, over the course of litigation, named defendants may propose settlement agreements.
Commissioner Colleen Roberts moved to approve Order No. 118-26 as read, Commissioner Randy Sparacino seconded, and Commissioners Roberts, Sparacino, and Chair Rick Dyer voted aye. The motion passed, authorizing the attorney engagement and contingency fee agreement with Keller Rohrback L.L.P.
