Stacy Gravina, Westwood’s Health Department Director, reported to the Board of Health on April 8 that the borough currently has 376 licensed dogs and 34 licensed cats, and that three establishments have had court appearances for failing to obtain required licenses.
Gravina also outlined upcoming public-health programming: three opioid-abatement program events are planned, and seasonal influenza clinics are scheduled for September and October. She told the board that the Fee Ordinance hearing is set for May 13 and that five amendments adopted in 2026 have generated about $250 in additional revenue to date.
The report documented standard enforcement steps for unlicensed establishments and routine public-health outreach plans. The board did not take substantive new policy action during the report; the Fee Ordinance hearing on May 13 is the next formal opportunity for members and the public to review proposed fee changes.
The meeting minutes list the director’s figures and program dates; the board’s next meeting agenda will include follow-up items related to Art in the Park staffing and the deferred swearing-in of Alexandra Lewis.
Next steps: the Fee Ordinance hearing on May 13 and the fall flu clinics in September and October are the principal near-term items from the director’s report.
