The Mancos Town Council voted Oct. 8 to authorize town officials to execute a Southwest Basin Roundtable grant contract for raw‑water line replacement work if the application is approved.
Staff explained that the town retroactively submitted a grant application for a raw‑water line replacement project described as an approximately $1 million engineering‑level project; the Roundtable can award up to $100,000 for raw‑water projects. Because the project and grant application were submitted while the town’s Water and Wastewater Director was unavailable, staff requested a motion delegating authority to execute the grant contract upon award.
Trustee Nick Manny moved and Mayor Cindy Simpson seconded (motion language: authorize Water and Wastewater Director Kyle Reek, Town Administrator Heather Alvarez and Mayor Cindy Simpson to execute the grant contract with Southwest Basin Roundtable upon approval of the grant application). Council approved the motion on a voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The authorization allows staff to accept the grant and sign required documents if the Roundtable approves the award; the motion did not appropriate matching funds at the Oct. 8 meeting and staff said they would return if a formal town obligation is required.
