The East Meadow Union Free School District Board of Education on June 10 adopted revisions to Policy 1500, “Public Use of School Facilities,” by a 6-0 vote.
Mr. Russo presented the item as a second reading, telling trustees the revisions update the district’s process for obtaining a permit to use school facilities and were made based on guidance from the New York State School Boards Association. He said there had been no changes to the draft since the first reading on May 13, 2026.
Trustees moved to adopt the policy as presented and approved the action without discussion. The vote was recorded as unanimous, 6-0.
The board treated the policy change as an action item because it was a second reading; district administrators indicated the revisions are intended to clarify the application and permitting process. No public comments were offered on the policy at the meeting.
Next steps: with the board’s approval the revised policy will be implemented according to the district’s policy calendar; the district did not specify an effective date during the meeting.
