Clerk Courtney Mason summarized the measure before the vote, saying, “This ordinance would increase council salary by the 3.25%, which is the same as council granted to city staff for this year. This ordinance also makes health insurance available to council members … and the adjusted salaries would be effective 01/01/2026.” Council held a public hearing on the ordinance and recorded no public comments.
Mayor (presiding) moved for adoption and the motion was seconded; the clerk conducted a roll call that produced seven yes votes and the ordinance was adopted.
The ordinance follows the same percentage adjustment granted to city staff for 2026 and formalizes health‑insurance eligibility for council members under city code. Council did not debate alternative rates or amendments during the session.
With the ordinance adopted, the change will be applied to council pay beginning Jan. 1, 2026; the city did not provide any additional financial impact estimate during the meeting.
