Adair County approves dispatcher rehiring, right-of-way contract and hears maintenance updates

At its April 22 meeting the Adair County Board of Supervisors approved several routine personnel and engineering items and heard a maintenance report from the county engineer.
Personnel: County Sheriff Jeff Vandewater asked the board to return Gwendi Rice to full-time status as dispatcher/jailer. The board approved the hire on a motion by Supervisor Hoadley, seconded by Supervisor Wedemeyer. Vandewater left the meeting at 9:03 a.m.
Claims and minutes: The board approved claims totaling $10,299.71 and approved the April 15, 2026 minutes as part of routine business.
Engineering and contracts: County Engineer Nick Kauffman presented a right-of-way contract for the W26 Prussia Culvert Project (LFM-LRCBW26P—7X-01) in the amount of $2,900.76 payable to Fred and Marie Ruth Pickrell; the board approved the contract on a motion by Supervisor Baier, seconded by Supervisor Christoffersen. Kauffman also reported that the N11 Lincoln bridge project is nearing completion, final work is being completed on the W9 Lincoln project, asphalt work is ongoing near the county line by Grimes, bridge inspections are nearly complete for the month, county equipment will be included in an upcoming consignment sale, and a tourism sign is being constructed near Schildberg’s.
Adjournment: The board adjourned at approximately 9:55 a.m.
