Adair County approves $3.74 million in claims; sets May 20 public hearing for FY26 budget amendment

The Adair County Board of Supervisors on April 29 approved a long list of county claims totaling $3,735,378.82 and set a public hearing for a FY26 budget amendment on May 20, 2026 at 9:15 a.m.

Deputy Auditor Timber Woosley presented the claims ledger. The grand total included a $3,350,431.25 posting to the NW Wind Farm UR Debt Service Fund and a $3,415,893.75 charge listed for Series 2015 bond principal and interest. The board approved the claims as presented (motion by Hoadley, seconded by Christoffersen); meeting minutes and the agenda had been approved earlier in the session.

Other administrative items approved during the meeting included a Courtyard Use Permit for Chamber Mainstreet to host farmers markets on the courthouse courtyard from June 4 through Oct. 14, 2026, and township clerk wages ranging from $80 to $120 for named township clerks. The board also acknowledged receipt of a manure management plan update for Prestage Farms of Iowa LLC.

The board set a public hearing on a FY26 budget amendment for May 20 at 9:15 a.m. to consider changes to the current fiscal-year budget; no details of proposed line-item changes were provided at the April 29 meeting. The treasurer also presented an employee resignation and was authorized by the board to proceed with the hiring process for a replacement.
