The Enumclaw School District board voted to name the district's new elementary — referred to as School No. 6 — the "Evergreen Trail Blazers." The decision followed a committee process that winnowed more than 250 proposed names to a final set of three.
Director (announcing the motion) moved to name Elementary School No. 6 and its mascot the Evergreen Trail Blazers; Director Stouffer seconded the motion and the board approved it by voice vote. Board members thanked the committee and Mr. Beals for leading the naming process, and one board member quipped they were "very disappointed that Avengers did not make the final cut," noting the community had a wide variety of suggestions.
Board members said the committee used analytics and community feedback to evaluate name candidates; the record notes charts and reasoning were displayed to the committee during its deliberations. The board did not record additional conditions tied to the name or a separate implementation timetable in the public portion of the meeting.
The new name and mascot were adopted by board action during the meeting; signage, mascot design and implementation steps were not described in the meeting minutes.
