The Afton Town Council on Dec. 18 unanimously directed legal counsel to negotiate an easement with Tyson Holbrook following an executive session that the council said addressed a legal matter and a potential real estate purchase.
Council Member Dirk Hillyard moved to instruct legal counsel to negotiate the easement "consistent with the Council's guidance provided in executive session," and Council Member Scott Griffith seconded. Mayor Jeff Jensen called the motion and it carried unanimously. The council returned to open session at 2:33 p.m. and reported that no formal action was taken during the closed-door meeting.
The item had been added to the agenda after Town Attorney Brandon Taylor requested that a discussion regarding a potential real estate purchase be added to agenda item 4B. The council first approved the amended agenda by unanimous vote after the Pledge of Allegiance.
Stetson Humbert, who had been listed among those present, left the meeting at 1:49 p.m. Will Wilkes joined the meeting by phone; Michael Butler was excused. The special meeting adjourned at 2:34 p.m.
The council announced the next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at Afton Town Hall. The meeting minutes were attested by Mayor Jeff Jensen and Town Clerk Tina McGarvey and set to be published Dec. 24, 2025.
