Bardstown council approves cemetery deeds; chiefs report on festival and vehicle break-ins

The Bardstown City Council approved cemetery deeds for Shawnetta Tonge, Flora Mae Ashford and Barbara Hagan by unanimous consent during its Sept. 9 meeting.
Fire Chief Todd Spalding told the council that the Bourbon Festival weekend went well. Police Chief Kim Kraeszig reported that there have been many vehicle break-ins recently and reminded residents to secure their doors and avoid leaving valuables in vehicles.
Councilwoman Betty Hart said the butterfly release recognizing Overdose Awareness Day had a strong turnout. Mayor J. Richard Heaton said the Bourbon Festival and Cheers to Bardstown were successful, thanked Assistant City Administrator Greg Ashworth and his spouse for hosting meals for first responders during the festival, reported that the new Heaven Hill Springs Distillery recently opened with a dedication ceremony, and noted that a permanent regional driver’s license office on Guthrie Drive is now open.
Councilman Joe Buckman moved to adjourn at 6:33 p.m.; Councilman Franklin Hibbs IV seconded and the motion carried 6–0.
