Bardstown honors Dixie P. Hibbs with proclamation recognizing historic preservation work

The Bardstown City Council presented a proclamation honoring Dixie P. Hibbs for a lifetime of service and historic preservation.
Councilman Franklin Hibbs IV read the proclamation, which detailed Hibbs’s personal and civic biography, including her birth on Jan. 12, 1942; authorship of 17 books and more than 20 articles on local and regional history; rehabilitation of six historic properties including Anatok, Flaget Hall and Spalding Hall; longtime service with the Spalding Hall Board and the Oscar Getz Museum of Whiskey History; and her election as Bardstown’s first female mayor in 2002. The proclamation also noted Hibbs’s service on the Kentucky Bourbon Festival board and her 2004 induction into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame.
Mayor J. Richard Heaton encouraged residents to celebrate Hibbs’s contributions to Bardstown’s historic preservation and civic life.
