The Stevensville Town Council on June 4 adopted Resolution 588 to approve and adopt the Montana Municipal Interlocal Authority (MMIA) employee benefits program for fiscal year 2026–27 and, in the same action, specified benefit selections and employer contribution levels.
Staff presented the available MMIA medical plans (Madison, Bridget, Pimpler and a high-deductible option) and explained that the town's typical budgeting expectation is to fund the Madison plan. The staff reported the town contribution per enrolled employee is $926 per month, and that dental and vision are currently funded at 50% by the town. The benefits presentation included headcount and enrollment numbers and noted the waiting period rules aligned with ACA limits.
During discussion council members said the resolution's attachments did not explicitly name the Madison plan and asked the text be modified to show the town's selection and contribution levels. Council amended the resolution on the floor to state that the town "approves and adopts the employee benefits program (Exhibit A) — Madison plan — at 100% coverage for medical," with dental and vision at a 50% cost match, and retained the $660 monthly cash-in-lieu payment for employees who waive coverage.
Council members and staff noted that changing benefits for existing employees would require appropriate notice and that any future changes should be coordinated with the town's personnel policy and legal counsel. The amended resolution carried on a roll-call vote.
