Platte County maintenance reports jail renovation progress, near-complete library work and troubling Agrilex floor damage

Jim said painters expected to finish by Thursday and that staff would arrange equipment (a lift) and electrical work to complete remaining items.
On the library, staff reported the final flooring strips and staining were underway and the project should be complete by the next day. The public-health side of the renovation has three units in progress; carpet-cleaning is scheduled for the week of the 13th after construction finishes to address spilled fluids and staining.
At the Agrilex building (fairgrounds), staff reported hollow-sounding, buckling floor areas on the south end. The team discussed possible causes — including a corroded or abandoned sewer line under the slab — and agreed to investigate exterior pipe connections and consider partial slab replacement or repouring if required. Staff flagged potential sewer-gas smells in the building as another reason to trace and, if necessary, sever or seal any disconnected lines before repairs.
Commissioners requested that maintenance follow up with exterior excavation where the line may exit the building and report findings and cost estimates back to the board.
