Morton County Commission approves multiple abatements, three subdivision plats and routine business

The Morton County Commission met on June 27, 2023, at the Morton County Courthouse in Mandan and approved a slate of routine administrative items and land-use requests.
Chairman Nathan Boehm presided. Commissioner Morrell moved and Commissioner Zachmeier seconded to approve the meeting agenda; the motion carried with all voting aye. Commissioners also approved the minutes of the June 8, 2023 meeting and authorized payment of bills and payroll following motions by Commissioner Zachmeier and seconds by Commissioner Morrell; those motions likewise carried unanimously.
On administrative policy, the commission approved a change to the social service zone compensation calendar, moving the annual switch to July 1 each year (motion by Commissioner Morrell; second by Commissioner Zachmeier).
The commission handled a sequence of property tax abatement approvals. The minutes record approvals for abatements numbered 6207 through 6220 in a series of motions, each carried with all voting aye.
On land use, the commission approved three short-form subdivision final plats: - Rosemary Subdivision: Commissioner Zachmeier moved and Commissioner Morrell seconded to approve Carol Carlson’s final plat for Rosemary Subdivision (38.46 acres) and a zoning map amendment from Agricultural to Residential in the NE ¼ of Section 8, Township 139N, Range 82W; motion carried. - Solar Meadows Second Subdivision: Commissioner Zachmeier moved and Commissioner Morrell seconded to approve Dale Steckler’s final plat for Solar Meadows Second Subdivision (15.84 acres) in the NE ¼ of Section 21, Township 139N, Range 82W; motion carried. - Belohlavek Second Subdivision: Commissioner Zachmeier moved and Commissioner Morrell seconded to approve Dan Belohlavek’s final plat (5.5 acres) and a zoning map amendment from Agricultural to Residential in the W ½ of Section 18, Township 137N, Range 82W; motion carried.
All recorded motions in this meeting were approved with the notation “all voting aye.” Present at the meeting and part of the record were Chairman Nathan Boehm and Commissioners Zachmeier and Morrell; Commissioners Leingang and Buckley were noted as absent. The meeting adjourned at 7:32 PM.
