Taylor’s town council unanimously approved a $102,092.72 bid from Hatch Industries on Sept. 4 to install fuel access pavement and supporting concrete to accommodate a new 12,000-gallon fuel tank at the municipal airport.
Town Manager Gus Lundberg told the council that only one bid was received for the project and that the work includes a six-inch concrete area and an asphalt section with six inches of base and three inches of asphalt. The new tank—12,000 gallons versus the current 5,000-gallon tank—will allow full semi-load deliveries, reduce delivery frequency to roughly two to three full loads annually, and address maintenance issues with the current tank, which Lundberg estimated at 30 to 40 years old.
The council heard that the project is funded entirely from the town general fund and that the larger tank will reduce per-delivery cost and improve fuel freshness by rotating stock every six months. Council Member Kriss Neff moved to award the bid to Hatch Industries; Council Member April Williams seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
No FAA grant funds were used for this project, the manager said; the council did not set a final construction schedule in this meeting.
